Rich Morel, who many know for his wildly successful BLOWOFF parties with DJ/host partner Bob Mould, will debut his Washington, DC-based party Hot Sauce on July 15 at Provincetown's Boatslip during Bear Week. He'll be joined by guest DJ, Roddy Bottum, of the bands Faith No More and Imperial Teen.
For those unfamiliar wtih Rich Morel's Hot Sauce sound, it's a bit different from the alt/rock-leaning BLOWOFF sound: Expect a free-flying, body rockin', paws-in-the-air, sweatbomb mix of disco, 90s house, electro, sick sing-along classics and new Morel productions. His latest faves include tracks by Joey Negro, Oliver, Sneaky Sound System, Claptone, Milk & Sugar, Hoxton Whores. Anticipate: Download a free Hot Sauce DJ Mix here. Pick up the limited edition PTown Hot Sauce T-shirt exclusively (not available online) at the party.
Musician and composer Roddy Bottum is a founding member and keyboard player of the recently reformed San Francisco weirdo band, Faith No More, and plays guitar and sings in indie pop band Imperial Teen. He lives in NYC where he composes musical scores for indie films and children’s television. He DJs occasionally and is writing an opera about Sasquatch that will premier in New York City in 2015. This summer, Roddy will be bicycling 550 miles from SF to LA as part of AIDS LifeCycle Ride to End AIDS. Roddy is currently single.
Hot Sauce happens monthly in DC at The Black Cat, bi-monthly in Baltimore at Grand Central Nightclub Baltimore. A Palm Springs Hot Sauce is in the works. •
